Chinese company LD Sports is to walk away from its £7.5m ($9.8m/€8.3m)-per-year shirt sponsorship deal with English Premier League team Southampton two years early, according to UK newspaper the Daily Mail. The move is said to have been influenced by increased political tensions between China and the UK and the Covid-19 economic downturn. The newspaper reported that one other Premier League team is facing losing a Chinese sponsor this season, as is Championship team Blackburn Rovers. LD Sports is reported to be using a break clause in its Southampton deal and the team is already looking for a new sponsor - Daily Mail
