Spanish telecommunications company Telefónica has increased its presence in the MotoGP motor cycling series after reaching a deal with commercial rights holder Dorna Sports for its Movistar brand to become the title sponsor of the Gran Premio de Aragón.
Movistar is already the naming partner of the Yamaha factory team and recently launched the dedicated MovistarTV MotoGP channel. It holds the television rights to MotoGP in Spain.
In addition to the race at Aragón – one of four race weekends to take place in Spain on the MotoGP calendar – Movistar will benefit from an increased trackside presence at other rounds of the championship.
Dante Cacciatore, director of communication and customer experience for Telefónica Spain said: “Movistar branding has already returned to the MotoGP grid in style this season and the next step for us was to choose the perfect Grand Prix to associate ourselves with, to support a championship which we know so many fans enjoy. The sponsorship also strengthens our presence in Aragón, which is an important region for us and is much loved by our company.”
