Movistar rides on with kit partner

UCI WorldTour cycling outfit Team Movistar has extended its kit partnership with Scottish clothing brand Endura.

The new one-year deal will cover the 2017 season. Endura will continue to supply Movistar’s riders with race kit as part of its renewed association with the team.

Jim McFarlane, Endura’s founder and managing director, said: “Areas throughout the company and collaborators, such as Simon Smart at Drag2Zero, have worked tirelessly to bring important innovations to the kit that we make for the team in Scotland and by further extending our partnership with Abarca Sports we look forward to the demands of the UCI WorldTour's leading team and riders driving Endura forward too.”

The 2016 season marks Endura’s third year as a partner of the team.

Earlier this week, Spanish telecommunications group Telefónica extended its title sponsorship of the team through Movistar, its mobile phone operator brand. The three-year contract will run until the end of the 2019 WorldTour season.

Movistar has won the WorldTour team classification each year since 2013 and the individual competition for the past two seasons with Spanish rider Alejandro Valverde.

Movistar is also leading the team rankings this season and its star rider, Nairo Quintana, is top of the individual classification after winning the Vuelta a España grand tour race last weekend.
