Anglo-Dutch oil and gas company Shell has agreed a multi-year deal to become the title sponsor of the new Hyundai World Rally Championship team.
The new Hyundai i20 WRC will use Shell Helix Ultra motor oil and feature Shell Helix branding in all WRC events, starting with the team’s debut at the Monte Carlo Rally on January 16-19 next year.
Along with its previous presence in WRC, the deal builds on Shell’s existing global partnership agreement with the Hyundai Motor Company that currently stands at eight years in duration.
Hyundai and Shell will collaborate on research and development throughout the course of the deal, the terms of which were undisclosed, and the oil group’s scientists are currently working alongside the team’s technical staff on the Hyundai i20 WRC’s requirements for engine lubricant and other products for use in competition and testing.
