German door manufacturer Hörmann has agreed a deal to become a premium sponsor of the International Biathlon Union’s World Cup and World Championships for the 2016-17 season.
The sponsorship package includes an advertising presence in stadiums, along the tracks and at the shooting ranges, as well as on the athletes’ starting bibs.
Hörmann will also benefit from brand exposure across IBU official print material, on the IBU website and in on-site video spots, as well as access to hospitality and additional advertising and promotional rights.
Christoph Hörmann, a partner at Hörmann, said: “By entering into a sponsorship agreement with the IBU, we are able to reach approximately 500 million viewers each year across Europe. The sport enjoys great popularity in significant markets for us including; Germany, Russia and Scandinavia amongst others.
“Football matches are usually not staged during the winter months and therefore an advertising presence at the IBU World Cup Biathlon races – which take place at this appealing time of year – is the perfect complement to our ongoing commitment to international football.”
The agreement was brokered by the Infront Sports & Media agency, the exclusive marketing partner of the IBU.
The upcoming biathlon season is set to start on November 27 in Ostersund, Sweden and will end on March 19 in Norway's capital, Oslo.
