Financial services company ANZ has been unveiled as a new partner of the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
ANZ will serve as the official bank in New Zealand for the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand between February 14 and March 29.
ANZ struck the agreement with the International Cricket Council.
The bank already backs several sporting properties in Australia and New Zealand including the naming sponsorship of netball’s ANZ Championship, along with ANZ Stadium and the Australian Open tennis grand slam – both of which are in Melbourne, Australia.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the ICC having sponsored major events in New Zealand in the past, so with cricket’s most prestigious tournament in our own backyard we wanted to continue backing our country,” ANZ New Zealand chief executive David Hisco said. ICC chief executive David Richardson added: “ANZ already has a very strong association with cricket, especially through their cultural and community activities.”
