The UK Sponsorship Awards, of which Sports Sponsorship Insider is a partner, announced the winners in more than 20 award categories at the London Marriot Hotel last night.
Sports sponsorship-related campaigns or agencies took home some of the top prizes at the 20th Anniversary of the UK Sponsorship Awards.
Adidas’ Team Messi sponsorship, entered by iris Culture, was not only named ‘Sponsorship Of The Year’ but won the ‘Sport (£2m+)’ and ‘ESA International’ categories. Adidas and iris also took first place in the Digital Activation in a ‘Sponsorship Campaign – Sport’ category.
The two Sponsorship Consultancy of the Year categories were awarded to agencies with strong sports profiles. Fuse Sport & Entertainment won the ‘Sponsorship Consultancy of the Year – Large’ award, as well as the ‘Brand Sponsorship of the Year (over £750k)’ award for its work with HTC and the Uefa Champions League and Europa League. Motorsports agency Right Formula came out on top in the medium-to-small consultancy category.
There were also gongs for sailing event Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week in the ‘Sports Sponsorship (under £2m)’ category, entered by WSM Communications, and for best Corporate Sponsorship, which went to the rugby union QBE Internationals, entered by Generate Sponsorship and Pitch.
The SSE Hydro arena naming rights sponsorship in Glasgow won the ‘Entertainment & Event Sponsorship’
As part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations, three personality awards were handed out, including recognition to founder and consultant of the CSM Group, Alan Pascoe MBE, for ‘Outstanding Contribution To Sport’.
Lloyds TSB and Bank Of Scotland’s partnership with London 2012 was named as The Best Sponsorship of the Last 20 Years’, in the event’s first-ever publicly-polled award.
