Formula One motor-racing team Ferrari has extended a main sponsorship deal with oil and energy giant Shell.
The renewal will run for five years, from 2016 to 2020.
Shell will continue to benefit from extensive exposure on Ferrari’s cars as the team’s innovation partner.
The sponsorship is the oldest in Formula One, dating back to before the world championship started in 1950, with Shell having sponsored Enzo Ferrari as a driver in the 1920s.
“Signing this contract is a further step forward in terms of stability and we are happy to have extended our collaboration with Shell,” Ferrari principal Maurizio Arrivabene said. “Historically, engines are the cornerstone of our company and that means all the work we do with Shell starts from our history as an engine builder.”
