Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung has agreed to become the title sponsor of this year’s NBA Summer League basketball tournament.
The 2014 event will be known as the Samsung NBA Summer League under the terms of the deal.
The NBA Summer League is an elimination tournament that takes place shortly after the NBA Draft to allow NBA franchises to try out rookies, younger bench players and unsigned players.
Teams will compete in three preliminary round games from July 11-15 before being seeded in a tournament that runs through to the championship game on July 21. Each team will play at least five games.
Samsung also serves as the official handset, tablet and television provider of the NBA, Women’s National Basketball Association and the NBA Development League.
