NBA China has agreed a sponsorship deal with Chinese digital payments company Ant Group under which NBA content and new digital experiences are being created for users on the Alipay platform.
Ant Group is linked to Chinese tech giant Alibaba, which has been involved with the company for years and has an ownership stake. Alipay is China's biggest digital payments platform. Its app has been reported to have more than 1bn users globally. In China, it has over the years expanded to become a 'super app', offering additional services including taxi hailing, utility bill payments, bicycle sharing, food delivery and ticket purchases.
