Pizza Hut takes a slice of Dallas Sports franchises

International restaurant chain Pizza Hut has agreed partnerships with two major sports franchises in the US city of Dallas, Texas.

Pizza Hut will become the official pizza partner of NHL ice hockey club the Dallas Stars and NBA basketball team the Dallas Mavericks.

The restaurant has agreed a similar partnership with the American Airlines Center, the home arena of both the Stars and the Mavericks. The length of the agreement was not disclosed.

As part of the deal, the Pizza Hut restaurant in Plano, Texas will be given rights to team trademarks for marketing, branding and advertising purposes.

In addition, the 18,500-capacity American Airlines Center will house six Pizza Hut stands, which will debut a premium nine-inch hand-tossed pizza.

Players from both the Stars and the Mavericks will also take part in promotional activities with Pizza Hut, while in-game experiences and sampling opportunities for fans are also part of the agreement.

Pizza Hut chief executive David Gibbs said: “Being actively involved in our local community is very important to all of us at Pizza Hut and this partnership with the Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks and the American Airlines Center will provide us with the opportunity to do that in a meaningful way.”
