NHL makes DraftKings pick

The North American NHL ice hockey league has agreed a partnership with fantasy sports brand DraftKings.

Officially, the NHL announced a multi-year deal, but Forbes reported that the tie-up is for an initial two-year period with a view to extending the arrangement.

DraftKings will serve as the official daily fantasy game of the NHL and benefit from prominent brand placement across the league’s digital media presence including NHL.com, NHL Mobile and its Twitter and Facebook pages.

Across these platforms, DraftKings will be the presenting sponsor of daily video previews for all regular-season matches and the “Fantasy Players to Watch” segments on the NHL Network’s NHL Live show.

DraftKings has established partnerships with a number of NHL teams at local level and as part of its agreement with the league, hockey fans will be able to take part in daily sports fantasy games for a chance to win prizes including trips to showpiece NHL games.

In American football, DraftKings has a partnership with NFL team New England Patriots, while rival FanDuel recently entered into a deal with NBA basketball team Brooklyn Nets.
