Fast food restaurant chain McDonald’s has been confirmed as the latest sponsor for the 28th Southeast Asian Games, which will take place in Singapore from June 5-16.
As an official partner, McDonald’s Singapore will seek to raise public awareness and support for Team Singapore athletes at the multi-sport event. This will include a four-part advertorial series in Singapore’s the Straits Times newspaper. The weekly series will feature local athletes from four different generations.
McDonald’s will also be promoting the 28th SEA Games and Team Singapore through its social media channels on Facebook, LINE and Instagram.
The deal is valued at over S$250,000 (€166,000/$189,000) and is part of McDonald’s ongoing support of sport in Singapore. In 2012, three children from Singapore were selected under the McDonald’s Champion of Play programme and personally experienced the summer Olympic Games in London.
One of these children, Lau Ywen, is a member of the Singapore national fencing squad and will compete at the SEA Games.
