French insurance group Matmut has signed a 10-year deal for the naming rights to the new home of Ligue 1 football club Girondins de Bordeaux.
Under the deal, which will run from 2015 to 2024, the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux will now be known as the Matmut Atlantique.
The new stadium opened on May 18 and as well as staging Bordeaux’s home games it will also host French national team fixtures and some matches of Top 14 rugby union club Union Bordeaux Bègles. It is also set to host five games during France’s staging of the Uefa Euro 2016 national team football tournament.
Matmut branding will be visible on a giant sign outside the stadium, as well as on the roof of the venue.
Daniel Havis, president of Matmut, said the new deal will extend the company’s “strong investment” in the local region. The firm is also the main shirt sponsor of Union Bordeaux Bègles.
