Dorna Sports, organiser of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme Superbike World Championship, has begun marketing race title sponsorship rights based on the model of MotoGP.
Pau Serracanta, managing director of Dorna’s Commercial Area, told Sports Sponsorship Insider that the title sponsorship of each round of the Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) could be sold for between €100,000 and €250,000 per year.
There are currently 15 rounds in the series.
“Because of our experience in MotoGP, we are very active in the market,” said Serracanta “We have already sold almost all inventory relating to the official sponsorships of Superbikes and can now concentrate on selling race event sponsorships for each round.”
Dorna Sports took over all WorldSBK rights when it acquired Infront Motor Sports, a subsidiary of Infront Sports & Media, in October 2012. Dorna has been the exclusive rights-holder of the MotoGP since 1992.
All 16 rounds of the MotoGP series have title sponsors this year.
