UK bookmaker Betfred has renewed its title sponsorship of rugby league’s Championship and League 1 competitions.
The new two-year deal will cover the 2020 and 2021 seasons of the second- and third-tier competitions, which sit below the top-tier Super League.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed but the Rugby Football League (RFL) confirmed that Betfred would be more than doubling its annual contribution to the competitions.
Betfred also title sponsors the Super League and in May renewed its partnership with the competition. The deal marked the biggest commercial agreement in the history of Super League.
Earlier this month, Betfred expanded its Super League deal to incorporate title sponsorship rights to the Women’s Super League for the first time. The deal for the WSL will run alongside Betfred’s new Super League deal, which runs until the end of the 2021 season.
Betfred began sponsoring the Championship and League 1 in 2018.
