Betfred expands Super League deal to women’s competition

UK bookmaker Betfred has been announced as the first title partner of rugby league’s Women’s Super League (WSL), adding to its sponsorship of the men’s competition.

The deal for the WSL will run alongside Betfred’s recent extension of its Super League title sponsorship deal, which runs until the end of the 2021 season.

Betfred began its title sponsorship of the Super League in 2017, replacing independent energy supplier First Utility in the role. In May, Betfred extended its backing of the competition in a deal Super League said marked the biggest commercial deal in its history.

Ralph Rimmer, chief executive of the Rugby Football League (RFL), said: “Everyone in rugby league knows that Betfred are great partners to work with, and one of the most exciting things about this deal for us is their enthusiasm for the women’s game and their determination to extend its profile through their digital platforms.”

This year’s WSL Grand Final will take place on October 11 at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens – the night before the men’s Super League finale at Old Trafford in Manchester.
