Asian Tour snaps up Canon as imaging partner

PHOTOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT manufacturer Canon has agreed a three-year deal to become an official partner of the Asian Tour.

Canon will sponsor the premier golf series in Asia until the end of the 2015 season and will be the Tour’s Official Imaging Partner.

Under terms of the deal, Canon will be entitled to on-site branding and activities at Asian Tour events and a presence on the Tour’s official website.

The Japanese brand will also sponsor the ‘Canon Power Play’ segment, which showcases the best golf shots from each tournament, on the Asian Tour Golf Show – the Tour’s official television programme, which is broadcast in over 200 countries.

“Our partnership with the Asian Tour has provided us with the opportunity to help in the promotion of golf, the popularity of which is increasing in emerging countries like India, Indonesia and Myanmar,” said Kensaku Konishi, chief executive of Canon in south and south-east Asia.

“At the same time, we are happy to be able to leverage our brand across the Tour’s media platforms to reach out to our customers and partners in the same region.”

Other Official Partners of the Tour include Abacus, Blackberry, Singha, Rolex, Srixon and Starwood Preferred Guest.
