US Olympic Committee banks new sponsorship

AMERICAN ONLINE broker TD Ameritrade has extended and expanded its sponsorship of the US Olympic Committee (USOC) to include the 2014 and 2016 US Olympic and Paralympic teams.

The Omaha-based company was the first ever USOC partner in the online broker category for the US Olympic team, and will now also sponsor the 2014 and 2016 US Paralympic teams, as well as the USOC’s respective teams in the 2015 PanAmerican Games and ParaPan American Games.

TD Ameritrade has expanded its previous sponsorship category to also include personal investing and wealth management.

Although the financial terms of the expanded agreement have not been officially released, American news sources estimate the deal to be worth between $15m and $20m.

“TD Ameritrade’s support of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams helps enable our athletes to pursue their dreams, a premise reinforced by TD Ameritrade’s core principles,” said USOC chief executive officer Scott Blackmun.

“Our continued partnership through to 2016 will provide significant resources to support America’s top athletes, while providing the distinctive value of investing in the US Olympic and Paralympic teams.”

TD Ameritrade first announced a partnership with USOC in 2011, and sponsored the US Olympic team at the 2012 Games in London.
