United extends social gaming partnership in Japan

English Premier League football club Manchester United has extended a partnership with social gaming company Gloops in Japan.

Gloops has been a partner for just over a year, and the deal has been renewed until the end of the 2014-15 season.

Since linking up, Gloops’ Manchester United-dedicated game ‘European Club Team Soccer Best Eleven Plus’ has been downloaded 1.4 million times.

“Gloops have produced an extremely popular product, with almost half of our four million followers in Japan downloading its Manchester United-branded game, which is impressive given the short period in which it has been available,” United managing director Richard Arnold said. “They are at the forefront of the development of social gaming in Japan and we believe they can continue to help the club deepen our engagement with our fans there.”
