Tasmania commits to AFL’s Hawthorn with new deal

Australian Football League Aussie rules club Hawthorn has opted to extend its long-term partnership with the Tasmanian Government.

The deal will run for five years, from the 2016 season through to the end of the 2021 campaign.

Under the deal, Hawthorn will continue to play its home matches in Tasmania while the team will carry Tasmania branding on the front of its playing jerseys.

The team first entered into a partnership with the Tasmanian Government in 2006, with the two parties having worked together on a number of community and charity initiatives. Hawthorn has played games at the Aurora Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania since 2001.

Hawthorn president Andrew Newbold said: “Hawthorn is committed to extending their footprint across the state, and we look forward to developing even more innovative ways in which to connect with the people of Tasmania over the coming years.”
