Super Rugby’s Western Force hands jersey rights to local firm

Australian Super Rugby franchise Western Force has agreed a jersey sponsorship deal with Perth-based engineering and project services contractor Clough.

Under the agreement, Clough’s branding will feature on the collar of Western Force’s kit throughout the 2014 season.

Clough’s logo will debut when Western Force opens its 2014 Super Rugby campaign against NSW Waratahs in Sydney on Sunday.

Western Force last month launched a pioneering sponsorship strategy for the forthcoming season when it announced that front-of-shirt branding would be sold separately for each of its starting XV positions. Chief executive Mark Sinderberry said he is pleased to see this policy, and the Clough deal, bringing greater Western Australian involvement into the franchise.

“We’re very proud to wear the name of another quality Western Australian business on our jersey in addition to the 15 companies who will be adorning the front of our playing jerseys in 2014,” he said. “As a proud Western Australian club, this continues our renewed focus and commitment to our state, following on from the fact that in 2014 we have more locally grown Perth players in our squad than ever before and have an active presence in the local Western Australian community.”
