Queensland Rugby Union expands partnership with local university

Queensland Rugby Union, the governing body of rugby union in the Australian state, has enhanced its partnership with Bond University by agreeing a wide-ranging sponsorship deal with the Gold Coast-based education facility.

Under the three-year agreement, which will run until the end of 2018, the university will continue to hold naming rights to National Rugby Championship team Queensland Country.

Bond has also been named the university partner of QRU, and the official coach partner of the St.George Queensland Reds Super Rugby franchise. Its logo will feature on the apparel of the Reds’ coaching staff as part of the agreement.

Garry Nucifora, Bond’s executive director of sport, said: “Expectations are high that this partnership will not only complement Bond’s already strong rugby presence in both the Queensland Premier and NRC competitions, but also that the educational opportunities such a partnership affords will be substantial for all Bond students.”

Bond has been a partner of Queensland Country since the inaugural NRC season in 2014.
