British infrastructure and support services company the Stobart Group has agreed a sponsorship deal for horseracing series the 2015 Flat Jockeys’ Championship.
The partnership is for an initial year with an option to extend. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Stobart initially became involved with horseracing when it sponsored the Professional Jockeys’ Association in 2011. It recently secured a two-year extension to this tie-up and has been the title sponsor of jockeys’ award ceremony the Lesters over the past four years, with two more years pending on the latter deal.
Andrew Tinkler, chief executive of Stobart Group, said: “Our brand’s association with racing is something we are very proud of. It has long been our intention to increase our involvement in the sport and the new Championships provide an exciting way to do so. I have, personally, always been a strong believer that more should be done to raise the profile of jockeys and we will be looking at a number of ways in which we can achieve this alongside Great British Racing.”
The 2015 Flat Jockeys’ Championship begins at Newmarket with the 2000 Guineas on May 2.
