THE RYDER CUP has secured its first-ever global sponsor after Standard Life Investments agreed a deal to partner the event in Europe and the US.
The global asset management company, headquartered in Edinburgh, agreed terms with Ryder Cup Europe and the PGA of America.
The deal marks the first time a company has sponsored the event on both sides of the Atlantic and will see Stanard Life become to become a worldwide partner of the 2014 competition at Gleneagles, Scotland, as well as the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National in the United States.
“This sponsorship complements our reputation as a leading global asset manager with strong performance and a distinctive team culture,” said Standard Life Investments CEO, Keith Skeoch.
“It is an integral part of our long-term brand building strategy and is a perfect match in terms of our heritage, client base and strong team ethos.”
The European Ryder Cup team is currently sponsored by BMW, Ernst & Young, Johnnie Walker and Rolex. The American team does not have any commercial partners.
