Rutgers University Athletics has signed an 11-year sponsorship partnership deal with the IMG College agency, which will begin in the 2013-14 academic year.
The contract runs through 2023-24 and guarantees to pay Rutgers more than $65m (€50m), plus revenue-sharing opportunities, over the length of the partnership. Rutgers can exercise an option to extend the agreement to as many as 14 years through 2026-27 with a guarantee of more than $87m, plus revenue-sharing rights.
The two parties said the agreement is designed to bring new national and corporate support and brand recognition to the University’s athletic program.
It includes IMG College’s exclusive representation and management of game broadcasts and coaches’ shows for television and radio, publications, digital assets, corporate partnerships, stadium and venue signage, game promotions, and game day hospitality.
Rutgers University director of intercollegiate athletics Julie Hermann said: “As we transition to the Big Ten Conference, it is essential that we maximise sponsorship opportunities and exposure to grow the Rutgers brand. IMG College’s global resources will help take our brand to the next level by engaging new sponsors and expanding our revenue base.”
Rutgers will join Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio State as Big Ten schools to partner with IMG College.
