Honda Racing Corporation has renewed a long-running title sponsorship agreement with Spanish oil and gas company Repsol for its factory Honda MotoGP motorcycling team.
The extended one-year deal will run until December 31, 2018. The two parties’ previous three-year agreement was due to expire at the end of 2017.
Repsol will retain its position as the main sponsor of the team, which will continue to be officially known as Repsol Honda.
Honda’s association with Repsol began in 1995 and the team has since gone on to claim 12 rider world championships. The new deal will extend the partnership into a 24th season.
Repsol Honda’s two drivers, Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, have both renewed their contracts with the team for a further two years. Marquez won his third MotoGP world title this year, with fellow Spaniard Pedrosa finishing the season in sixth.
