Australian Super Rugby team the Queensland Reds has agreed a two-year shirt sponsorship deal with sports technology company SMG Technologies.
The agreement will cover the 2016 and 2017 Super Rugby seasons and names SMG Technologies’ SportsMed software as the Reds’ athlete management system. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under the agreement, the SportsMed logo will appear on the back of the team’s Super Rugby jerseys. The Reds will also use the software, which uses its tools to support the coaching and medical staff of sports teams, to aid its development and grassroots programmes.
“As a locally-based organisation, and newcomer to Australia, we are committed to supporting the growth of youth sport and the health and welfare of all players,” SMG Technologies chief executive Zane Hall said.
The Queensland Reds begin their 2016 Super Rugby season with an away fixture against the New South Wales Waratahs in Sydney on February 27.
