PyeongChang 2018 has signed up its first domestic sponsor for its staging of the winter Olympic Games by agreeing a deal with telecommunications company KT.
South Korea’s top fixed-line operator and No.2 mobile carrier has become a tier-one partner of the next edition of the winter Games.
KT will provide a high-speed Internet service for the Olympics, with organisers claiming that it will aid PyeongChang in its bid to host the most advanced Games in terms of information and communication technology.
As a top-tier partner, KT will also be entitled to utilise a range of marketing rights, including the use of intellectual property and the use of PyeongChang 2018’s logo in their advertising campaigns.
PyeongChang was elected to host the 2018 Games in July 2011.
