US health and nutrition provider GNC has entered into a partnership with North American NHL ice hockey franchise the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Under the agreement, the terms of which were not disclosed, GNC will become a founding partner of the Penguins’ Consol Energy Center home arena.
GNC will also become title sponsor of the team’s ‘Student Rush’ ticket programme, which allows college and high school students to attend Penguins home games at a discounted price.
Terry Kalna, senior vice-president of sales and broadcasting for the Penguins, said: “We have a young and digitally-savvy fan base, and ‘GNC Student Rush’ connects GNC to tens of thousands of area students via their mobile devices. The partnership enables both the Penguins and GNC to underscore our commitment to the young people of our region.”
