Paris Marathon adds title sponsor to corporate family

SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC will become the first ever title sponsor of the Paris Marathon after signing a four-year deal.

Agreed with Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), which also organises and markets the Tour De France, the energy management company will sponsor the next four races beginning in April this year.

Schneider Electric hopes to reinforce its global image by sponsoring the event and has outlined an objective of making the Paris Marathon the first energy positive race in the world.

This strategy will see the company provide race organisers with a number of new technologies linked to the environment, as well as events and activities held alongside the race.

“The Paris Marathon is the perfect platform to emphasise our brand values: care, connect, challenge and commit,” said Schneider Electric’s chief marketing officer, Aaron Davis.

“We see a unique opportunity to link our brand to the spirit and values embodied by the timeless challenge of the marathon, but with a focus on the people, the technologies and the ability to do things differently.”

The Schneider Electric Paris Marathon joins other world marathons with high-profile title sponsors, including the Virgin London Marathon, the ING New York City Marathon, the BMW Berlin Marathon and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The Paris Marathon is also supported by sports shoe maker Asics as a Major Sponsor and car maker Nissan as an Official Sponsor, plus a host of Official Suppliers including sports drink Powerade, mineral water Vittel and national airline Air France.
