Optum, a division of US health insurance provider UnitedHealthcare, has become a partner of PGA Tour golf event the Players Championship.
Although terms of the partnership were not disclosed, the Jacksonville Business Journal newspaper said that the deal would be a multi-year agreement.
Optum has joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as the second major sponsor of the tournament.
Optum branding will appear on signage alongside PricewaterhouseCoopers, which in 2012 signed an extension of its own partnership with the event through to 2017.
Matt Rapp, executive director of the Players Championship, said: “A ‘proud partnership’ has similar components to a title sponsor, which includes part branding, part commercial inventory and part hospitality.”
The 2015 edition of the Players Championship began yesterday (Thursday) at TPC Sawgrass in the US state of Florida.
