US pharmaceuticals company Mylan has extended its title sponsorship of the World TeamTennis event through to 2017.
Extending a partnership that began in 2012, Mylan will continue to back the US-based league, which was co-founded by tennis legend Billie Jean King in 1974 to introduce the concept of men and women playing together in professional team competition.
WTT features some of tennis’ biggest names competing in more than 50 matches annually in seven US markets. The agreement includes naming and logo rights, broadcast and digital assets, merchandising, and onsite promotion at WTT matches.
In partnership with WTT, Mylan has established programming initiatives over the past two years to promote access and highlight opportunities for youth and community charity partners.
In association with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Mylan PlayDays have introduced thousands of children to tennis with the opportunity to participate in clinics with top WTT pros.
The milestone 40th season of WTT begins on July 12 and concludes with the WTT Finals on August 2. The season will be highlighted by a year-long marketing and promotional programme that includes a series of special events, kicking off with the WTT Player Draft on March 16 in Indian Wells, California. The Washington Kastles franchise, which this year featured US stars Venus Williams and Sloane Stephens (pictured), is the reigning WTT champion.
Mylan will also continue as the title sponsor of WTT Smash Hits, the annual charity event co-hosted by King and Sir Elton John.
