Paralympics Ireland has extended its sponsorship agreement with the Irish subsidiary of multinational snack food company Mondelez through March 2017.
The deal means Mondelez, owner of brands including established Paralympics Ireland partner Cadbury, is the first official partner of Ireland’s team for the 2016 Paralympics Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Over the next three years Paralympics Ireland and Mondelez Ireland will collaborate to run annual talent and awareness events which will be supported by the Cadbury Foundation. These initiatives will support Paralympics Ireland’s aims in the area of talent identification and seek to drive awareness and encourage participation in Paralympic sport.
Cadbury has worked alongside Paralympics Ireland in this area for the past three years. The financial details of Mondelez’s forthcoming contribution were not disclosed.
Liam Harbison, chief executive of Paralympics Ireland, said: “(Mondelez) were a valued partner for the London 2012 cycle supporting us to deliver the hugely successful post Games talent search. With their increased investment announced today we are confident of being able to build our partnership towards supporting our recently published strategic vision of leading a sector wide talent identification model.”
