English Super League rugby league team Hull Kingston Rovers has announced a five-year stadium naming rights agreement with locally based company Kingston Communications (KC).
Under the deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, Hull KR’s Craven Park home will be known as the KC Lightstream Stadium to promote the telecommunications company’s fibre broadband service.
KC is now the naming sponsor of Hull’s two major sporting stadia, as it also gives its name to the KC Stadium – home to English Premier League football team Hull City and Hull KR’s Super League rival Hull FC.
“This sponsorship is one which will go beyond the renaming of the ground to the KC Lightstream Stadium,” Hull KR’s director of commercial affairs Linton Brown said. “We'll be working closely with KC to engage with our supporters and the East Hull community, with plans already in place to create a carnival atmosphere when we welcome Leeds Rhinos on the opening day of the season.”
KC has an established relationship with Hull KR as a supporter of the club’s community trust and youth academy. Hull KR welcomes Leeds Rhinos for its 2014 Super League curtain-raiser on February 16.
