Houston Dynamo, the lone Major League Soccer club without a jersey sponsor this season, have filled the void by signing a deal with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
As part of the multi-year, cause-related partnership, the BBVA Compass Stadium will become a tobacco- and smoke-free facility from January 1, 2019. Smoking was already prohibited inside the seating bowl and concourse.
Plans are also in development for healthy concessions menu options to be available at the venue for the 2019 MLS season. The Dynamo have also committed to donating a portion of single-game ticket sales to MD Anderson, while fans will be given the option to add donations of their own.
By gaining a shirt sponsor, the Dynamo will also be able to secure a new shirt-sleeve partner, per MLS policy.
