Honda Racing Corporation has agreed an expanded two-year partnership with energy drinks manufacturer Red Bull for its Repsol Honda MotoGP motorcycling team.
Building upon a relationship established nine years ago, from next season the Red Bull logo will feature on the team’s bikes for the first time.
Red Bull also takes on the designation of official energy drink partner to the Honda Repsol team until the end of 2016.
HRC executive vice-president Shuhei Nakamoto said: “I’m sure that this new partnership will increase our visibility, not only as Honda, but also MotoGP on a whole to a wider global audience, which can only be good for the sport.”
The Red Bull deal comes after Spanish oil and gas company Repsol this month agreed a three-year extension to its long-running title sponsorship of the team, the dominant force in MotoGP. Repsol has served as title sponsor of the team since 1995 and will now continue this association through 2017.
Honda’s defending MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez is leading the 2014 standings from team-mate Dani Pedrosa in second place.
