Spanish energy company Feníe Energía has agreed a deal to sponsor the Vuelta a España cycling race.
Feníe Energía has signed a three-year deal with race organiser Unipublic. The agreement will cover the 2017 to 2019 editions of the event.
As part of the deal, Feníe Energía will sponsor the ‘Combativity Award’, which is granted to the most aggressive rider during each stage of the race.
The winner of the award is determined by votes from fans. Starting with the 2017 edition, the winner will also be granted a green bib to be worn during the following day’s stage.
Feníe Energía will also benefit from brand exposure on riders’ bibs and bicycle number plates as part of the agreement.
This year’s edition of the ‘Grand Tour’ event takes place from August 19 to September 10. Colombia’s Nairo Quintana (pictured) won the 2016 Vuelta for the Movistar Team.
