Hunting equipment and apparel manufacturer Duck Commander has agreed a title sponsorship deal for annual college American football game the Independence Bowl that runs until 2019.
Under the agreement, which was brokered by marketing consultancy firm the Breakout Group, “Independence” returns to the game’s title, having featured every year since its 1976 inception until last year, when it was called the AdvoCare V100 Bowl for sponsorship reasons.
A date is not yet set for the Duck Commander Independence Bowl, which will take place at its traditional venue of Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Duck Commander is the sixth title sponsor in the game’s history.
The Independence Bowl has a broadcasting agreement in place with US sports network ESPN, also until 2019. It has primary partnerships with collegiate athletics bodies the Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference and secondary agreements with Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference covering the same period.
In 2013, Pacific-12 Conference team Arizona Wildcats claimed a 42-19 victory over Boston College Eagles of the ACC.
