Marcel Cordes, the president of European operations at Repucom, is to leave the sports marketing research company by mutual agreement as part of a restructuring process.
Repucom’s various European businesses will be realigned into a single business unit – one of three global operating bodies. Its German business will continue to be led by Repucom Deutschland managing director Stephan Schröder.
Founder and chief executive of Repucom Paul Smith will lead the process and offered assurances that the company’s existing country-by-country operations will not be changed.
“Our efforts will be pointed towards supporting and creating further advantage from our market position in Europe and the region generally,” he said.
Cordes has worked in various management roles for Repucom since 1994 and took on his present role upon the 2010 merger with Sport+Markt.
“Marcel has done an outstanding job for Repucom,” Smith added. “He has been key in the transition of our business through the acquisitions and integrations of Sport+Markt, IFM, Sports Marketing Surveys and Immagine & Sport. The fact that we are able to bring about the current restructure speaks to Marcel’s contribution.”
Cordes added: “My work as president Europe is complete. Repucom has developed both geographically and in terms of product and service offerings as the leading advisor in sponsorship intelligence in the European sports business. Our offices across Europe are led by outstanding professionals and Repucom is rapidly growing its business in expansion markets such as Russia and Turkey.”
