The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) is set to strike a deal to sell the naming rights for Murrayfield, the sport’s national stadium in Edinburgh, to telecommunications company BT, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.
The deal will reportedly be worth £20m (€25m/$34m), although the length of the proposed agreement was not revealed.
The newspaper said that the BT Sport Stadium, BT Sport Murrayfield Stadium and BT Murrayfield Stadium are three of the possible names under consideration. In the long-term, BT could seek a shirt sponsorship deal with the Scotland national team, the report added.
The SRU started looking for a naming rights partner for Murrayfield more than two years ago.
Last year, UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport sealed four-year shirt sponsorship deals with the Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby clubs.
