Swiss watch maker Blancpain has expanded its association with the SRO Motorsports Group by taking on the title sponsorship of its Sprint motor racing series.
Already the naming partner of the Blancpain Endurance Series, the company will lend its name to the competition that was previously promoted as the FIA GT Series. Terms of the new deal were not disclosed.
The Blancpain Sprint will be contested over seven events in 2014, with two races of one hour at each track.
A prize fund of €100,000 ($136,000) will be available at each race, with this amount increasing to €175,000 at the series’ Baku World Challenge finale in Azerbaijan. A particular emphasis will be placed on the promotion of future talents, with a significant part of the fund allocated to pairs of young drivers.
Blancpain Endurance and Blancpain Sprint will retain separate classifications but drivers in a position to compete in both championships can contest the Blancpain GT Series titles.
