Arsenal announces new partner in Indonesia

ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE football club Arsenal has signed a sponsorship deal with Indonesian mobile phone network operator Telkomsel.

The agreement sees Telkomsel become the Official Mobile Network of Arsenal in Indonesia, with the company supporting the club’s pre-season visit of Jakarta in July.

Telkomsel’s 125 million customers will be given exclusive access to buy tickets to the London side’s clash against the Indonesian national team on July 14, from April 7 onwards.

The telecommunications company’s simPATI brand will be the central brand for partnership activations.

“Asia continues to be a major focus for Arsenal, and Indonesia is a particularly important market for the club with the huge following we have there,” said Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal’s head of global partnerships.

“We have more Facebook fans in Indonesia than in any other country. By taking our first team to play a match in Indonesia, and working with one of the country’s biggest brands, we look forward to engaging with our passionate fans in the run up to, during and after this summer’s visit.”

Arsenal’s visit will be their first to Indonesia since 1983, and comes after two Asian tours in the summers of 2011 and 2012.
