ZTE nets trio of NBA partners

Chinese smartphone manufacturer ZTE has agreed a deal to become an official sponsor of NBA basketball teams New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors for the 2014-15 season.

ZTE served as the smartphone sponsor of the Rockets last season and expands its involvement to the Knicks and the Warriors.

All three teams will collaborate with ZTE on charitable initiatives, such as the Warriors Community Phone Drive, where fans are encouraged to donate their old phones to benefit underprivileged youngsters in the San Francisco Bay Area.

ZTE chairman and chief executive Lixin Cheng said: “This announcement reinforces our commitment to building the ZTE brand in the United States and highlights our commitment to investing in the communities in which we live and work.”

Financial terms for ZTE’s agreements with the three NBA teams were not disclosed.
