WSL title sponsor Barclays buoyed by knock-on effect of England’s Euro 2022 triumph

Tom Corbett, Barclays' group head of sponsorship and media

Barclays group head of sponsorship Tom Corbett has said he is delighted with the knock-on effects of the Lionesses’ Uefa Euro 2022 victory, and admits the brand had no idea of the explosion in women’s football to come when agreeing a three-year title sponsorship of the Women’s Super League (WSL) in 2019.

The bank became the women’s league first-ever title sponsor, agreeing a deal from 2019-20 to 2021-22, before renewing with an expanded three-year contract from 2022-23 to 2024-25 that also included title sponsorship rights to the second-tier Women’s Championship and further investment in women’s and girls’ football.
