GPS technology company Garmin has been unveiled as an official supplier for the 2017-18 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race sailing event.
Garmin will provide the seven competing teams with its waterproof VIRB 360 and VIRB Ultra 30 cameras as part of the agreement.
The cameras will be fitted on each boat to capture video that will be distributed by race organisers.
The 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race begins on October 22 in Alicante, Spain and ends in June in The Hague, Netherlands.
“This is a fantastic partnership for the race and we are looking forward to working with such a dynamic and innovative brand,” Jordi Neves, the event’s chief digital officer, said. “We are especially excited to be able to deliver 360 experiences from all boats by our on-board reporters that will be delivering the story of the race in the toughest conditions.”
