Global payments provider Visa has signed a new partnership with Africa’s football governing body.
Under the two-year deal, Visa will become an Official Partner of the Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in 2019 and 2021.
The deal was struck with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and will see Visa become the exclusive payments services provider at all venues during the two tournaments. Visa will also be the preferred payment option for ticket purchase online and in-person.
In addition, Visa will be the Official Partner of AFCON’s player escort program, which will give over 1,100 children the opportunity to lead their football heroes out onto the pitch at AFCON matches.
Visa has been a sponsor of international football since 2007, when it signed with Fifa as a partner of the 2010 World Cup.
This summer, Visa sponsored the World Cup in Russia, and will also sponsor the Women’s World Cup in France next year.
