VELUX GROUP, the roof window company, will title sponsor the 2013 European Volleyball Confederation (CEV)'s European Championship to be co-hosted by Denmark and Poland in September.
The deal was facilitated by Infront Sports & Media, the CEV's long-term media rights partner, and begins with immediate effect until the European Championship comes to an end on 29 September 2013.
Infront Sports & Media expects to achieve broadcast coverage of the national team competition in approximately 100 countries.
“Volleyball is hugely popular in many of our key markets, " said Michael Rasmussen, marketing director of the Velux Group.
"The sponsorship of the CEV Volleyball European Championship in 2013 is a wonderful opportunity to expand our sponsorship portfolio with a sport that is energetic, passionate and one of the most widely-played in the world."
The Velux Group is already title sponsor of Velux EHF Champions League in handball, a tournament that is watched by over 300 million TV viewers every year.
From 2006 to 2011, the Denmark-based company was also title sponsor of Velux 5 Oceans – the around-the-world sailing competition in which competitors race single-handed across five oceans in thoroughbred racing yachts.
The group says it limits it sponsorship activity to title or main sponsorships (top level) in the markets it operates.
The Velux Group has manufacturing companies in 11 countries and sales companies in just under 40 countries.
