US sportswear brand Under Armour has signed a long-term kit partnership with Wichita State University.
The eight-year deal becomes effective on July 1 and will run until 2025. The agreement names Under Armour as the official outfitter of Wichita State.
Under Armour will provide on-field and training gear for 15 varsity sports, with the company to also supply clothing for coaches and staff.
The deal covers baseball, women’s basketball and golf from 2017-18, men’s basketball and cross country/track from 2018-19, men’s and women’s tennis from 2019-20, and volleyball and softball from 2020-21.
Wichita State’s men’s basketball team will honour its current contract with fellow US sportswear brand Nike before switching to Under Armour, while the university’s volleyball and softball teams will remain with German company Adidas until 2021.
The agreement includes marketing entitlement that will complement Under Armour’s brand marketing campaigns through print and venue presence at Wichita State.
“Wichita State has long needed to brand itself with consistency and uniformity,” Wichita State director of athletics, Darron Boatright, said. “Our agreement with Under Armour gives us that, and our student-athletes will get the best and most innovative competition and training apparel available.”
Under Armour’s portfolio of US college partners includes UCLA; University of California, Berkeley; University of Wisconsin; University of Notre Dame; Naval Academy Athletic Association; University of Maryland; Texas Tech University; Northwestern University; University of Cincinnati; Boston College; University of Utah; University of South Carolina and Auburn University.
