Transportation network company Uber has agreed sponsorship deals with NBA basketball team the Orlando Magic and NHL ice hockey franchise the Detroit Red Wings.
Uber will serve as the official ridesharing partner of both teams. The lengths of the agreements were not disclosed.
The partnerships are designed to enhance the fan experience at the Amway Center and Little Caesars Arena (pictured), the respective homes of the Magic and the Red Wings.
A designated pick-up and drop-off zone will be set up for patrons at the Amway Center for regular-season Magic home games and all other ticketed events at the arena. The zone will be introduced for the Magic’s home clash with the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 16.
The partnership also includes in-app promotions for Magic fans, and integration of ‘Magic Money’, which allows season ticket holders to exchange their virtual currency for Uber rides.
As part of Uber’s agreement with the Red Wings, new users will be granted one free ride up to $15 (€13) if they enter the LCARENA code on the app. The offer is available until December 31.
Little Caesars Arena opened last year and also serves as the home of NBA team the Detroit Pistons.
